CLASS DESCRIPTION
This certificate course meets and exceeds OSHA requirements for 29 CFR 1910.120 (q) and Cal-OSHA's CCR Title 8, 5192(q). The course is designed for employees who are likely to contain a hazardous substance spill from a safe distance.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN

Contain the release from a safe distance, keep from spreading, and prevent exposure

Knowledge of basic hazard and risk assessment techniques

Know how to select and use PPE provided to the FRO

Understand basic hazardous materials terms

Know how to perform basic control, containment, and/or confinement operations and rescue injured or contaminated persons within the capabilities of the resources and PPE available with their unit

Implement basic equipment, victim, and rescue personnel decontamination procedures

An understanding of the relevant standard operating procedures and termination procedures
